Instagram Snaps: My Week

My week

Here are a few Instagram shots summing up the past week or so.  I have been trying to walk a bit more this week to increase my physical activity levels and I have been managing to hit 10,000 steps almost every day (I am monitoring this using a Fitbit – it’s fabulous!  I got mine off Amazon).  Not only is walking a nice chance to think, but it is also a chance to capture a few photos of my lovely surroundings, here in Guernsey.  To counter the increase in exercise, I have been baking (oops!)  I made a lovely lemon drizzle cake (not too healthy) but I also made sushi, which is much healthier!  It’s been a good week and, despite the cold weather, I think spring is on its way.

No Snow in Guernsey

Today's walk (5 Feb 12)

Yesterday I went for a nice walk with hubby and, whilst it was mighty chilly, I don’t think we have any chance of seeing snow here in Guernsey.  We walked around Pembroke and I took a couple of photos which I thought I’d share here on the blog. Enjoy…

Episode 36 – Chilly

In this episode Charles and I take you on the first of our audio tours of Guernsey. Hopefully there will be a few more of these (when it’s a little less chilly out). I have some blog recommendations for you too, as well as an update on my recent creative exploits. So put on a pot of coffee, and some hand-knitted socks, and join me for some crafty chatter.

Instagram Snaps: My Week

My week

Here is a little insight into my week through a few Instagram snapshots.  It’s been a good week.  There’s been lots of knitting.  The Damask KAL is going really well with lots of people getting involved (it’s not too late to join in if you are interested!)  I have also cast on a lovely beret using yarn from the wonderful people at Toft.  I am reviewing some of their yarn and a pattern book at the moment.  So far, I am totally in love with both… watch this space for further details.   I also got out for a run this week for the first time in about 3 months.  I have been suffering with some back problems, so that, and a few other distractions, meant that I have not been exercising much.  It felt GREAT to get outside again.  To top it all off, I enjoyed several coffees with friends… one of my favourite things ever.

February Giveaway: Maggie and Mabel

maggie & mabel

Before I announce our February giveaway, I just want to say thanks to Laura Sheppard for sponsoring last month’s giveaway.  Laura has kindly offered iMake blog readers a 10% discount off anything in her Etsy shop between 1 February and 15 February 2012.  Just enter the code iMAKEFEB2012 at the checkout (note the lowercase ‘i’).  Thanks Laura!

This month’s giveaway is sponsored by local makers Maggie and Mabel (recently interviewed by iMake).  They are offering our lucky winner this cute, handmade noticeboard.  The noticeboard measures 20.5cm by 20.5cm.  It would look lovely in your craft room or in a girl’s bedroom.  If I won the giveaway (which sadly, I cannot!) I would use it to store business cards of all the lovely crafty people I meet.

Local Crafters: InkBison

InkBison 5

This interview is the next installment in my series of interviews with local crafters.

I am delighted to introduce you to Gina aka InkBison.  Gina and I were at school together but we have not seen each other for… well… more years than I care to remember!  (Feeling old…!)  So it was a lovely surprise to get an email from her about her brand new crafty project.  It’s been an absolute pleasure interviewing her.

Episode 35 – Crafty Community

This is a bumper episode focusing on our wonderful crafty community.  There’s quite a bit of knitting (including a knitalong with the lovely Chloe and Kate), news on my ebook and some other crafty community recommendations.  There is also an update on the forthcoming Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society movie.  Sadly I didn’t get the lead role, but have a listen to the show to find out who did!  Grab a cup of something warm and comforting and join me for some crafty chatter.

Local Crafters: Maggie and Mabel

Maggie and Mabel

I am planning a series of interviews with local crafters at the moment so hopefully this will be the first of several.  (Incidentally, if you are a Guernsey crafter interested in being featured on the iMake blog, please drop me a line).  Lisa and Sarah are sisters that share a passion for craft.  They formed Maggie and Mabel last year to share their gorgeous handmade creations with the world.  They make a wide range of products and everything has a lovely, homely feel.  Their products include cards, framed cross-stitch pictures, covered notebooks, blankets and (my personal favourite) jars of crafty bits and bobs with a pin cushion on the lid.  Maggie and Mabel have very kindly offered to sponsor next month’s blog giveaway, so keep an eye out!
