Image details – Truffles by David Leggett, via Flickr On Tuesday night, my dear crafty pal Jo and I attended a chocolate truffle making workshop. It was good fun, although I must confess, I don’t think we are ‘natural’ truffle makers. Clearly, the gorgeous truffles in the photograph above were not made by us! It was quite a messy experience and we spent most of the evening covered in melted chocolate. But it was a giggle! I recorded a little audioboo about it for you and also took a few photos. Enjoy… Now Autumn is well and truly here, it’s time for warming, hearty dinners. One of hubby’s favourites is chilli, not least because I tend to make a large batch and put at least half in the freezer. This recipe came from my mother-in-law and has been tweaked a little along the way. I hope you like it. Image details – truer words have never been printed on a napkin by Anjum Malkana, via Flickr Here is my October GBG magazine column. I hope you enjoy it. P.S. Thanks to the wonderful Knitmore Girls for the “3 bites” inspiration. It’s all about food in my household at the moment. I’ll be back to my traditional knitting/sewing/etc craft this weekend, all being well, but for now, it seems my blog is something of a food fest. Image details: A New Era by JD Hancock, via Flickr Those of you who listen the iMake podcast will know that I have been pondering getting a breadmaker for a while. Thanks to everyone who contacted me offering advice on whether to buy one or not. Thanks to a number of you, I was convinced that purchasing a breadmaker would enhance my life immeasurably (and they call me an enabler!) So through Amazon I purchased the Panasonic SD-2501WXC Automatic Breadmaker with Nut & Raisin Dispenser & Gluten Free Program. I cannot seem to stop blogging about food! This time, it’s nothing to do with my cooking or growing exploits. Quick side bar: the iMake blog is supposed to be all about ‘the handmade’, but the reason I felt compelled to blog about what follows is because, quite frankly, it is one of the most creative and fabulous business ideas I have come across in a long time. I wish I’d thought of it and presented it to the lovely Peter Jones in the Dragons’s Den… Anyway, I digress, where was I?) I have become mildly obsessed with conquering my fear of yeast cookery, ever since I couldn’t quite master Guernsey Gache. So this time I thought I’d have a go at making bread from a packet. Basically the mix is all the dry ingredients and you make the bread from that. You can use these bread mixes to make bread by hand or in a bread maker. I opted for ‘by hand’ and this is how I got on… Guess what this show is about? Yes, you guessed right – it’s all about sewing. I have re-discovered my sewing machine so I wanted to share the sewing love! I also talk about my recent creative exploits and we learn a little Guernsey flag history. Grab a cuppa and join me for crafty goodness… |
