Handmade Stamps by Cupcake Tree

Knitting Stamp

I spotted these gorgeous handmade stamps on a fantastic new website called Knitnook.  Kristin, aka Voolenvine, from the Yarngasm podcast is the brains behind Knitnook and I have to say, it is just fabulous!  Knitnook is one of my new favourite ‘nooks’ on the net at the moment.  I interviewed Kristin many moons ago on the blog here.  And she very kindly reciprocated by interviewing me on Knitnook, here.

Less is More

Leather Bracelet by iMake

When it comes to making jewellery I love working with leather.  I’ve been playing with a few ideas recently and have designed some very simple bracelets that show off beautiful pieces of leather.  You could, of course, add charms these bracelets if you wanted to, but I am really a ‘less is more’ kind of girl. I hope these photos show you how simple jewellery making can be and perhaps encourage you to have a go yourself.

Amartine – that’s me!

Amartine 4

Isn’t Ravelry fantastic?  A while back, I had a lovely message from a fellow knitter called Katie.  She was knitting a project in grey Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK.  She had run out of yarn and was struggling to find the right dye lot locally.  She saw that I had just what she needed in my stash and offered to buy it off me.  I was, of course, happy to help out a ‘knitter in need’.  Anyway, it turns out that she is a fab knitwear designer – the yarn was for a new scarf design.  And guess what?  She’s named the scarf after me!!  It’s called Amartine.  I was so thrilled that I had to share my excitement on the blog!  It looks like a lovely scarf.  Please take a look.

Handmade Treat… For Me!

Bags - Made by Loumms

In the last podcast (episode 31) I mentioned that I had treated myself to a new, handmade knitting bag.  Well, it arrived today… and I LOVE it.  The one on the left with the butterflies is the new bag.  It’s a bucket shaped bag and is slightly stiff so it stands up on its own (ideal for concealing my current project from my cats).  It also came beautifully wrapped and with a lavender sachet inside, so my knitting now smells lovely!  My Travelling Woman Shawl is living in this bag at the moment.  The bag on the right is the ‘wristie’ that I got while I was at Knit Nation.  I use this for knitting mitts or socks ‘on the go’ and it tends to live in my handbag.  Both have been created by a fantastic duo called Made by Loumms.

Great British Yarns Giveaway

Marketplace640

I am delighted to ‘officially’ announce iMake’s brand new sponsor.  Great British Yarns have generously agreed to sponsor the iMake blog and podcast, as well as a few giveaways too (hurrah for free stuff!)  It’s fair to say I was nervous about finding a sponsor, but I knew I had to do it for the blog and podcast to continue at the current rate.  I was worried that I wouldn’t find the ‘right’ company.  It needed to be someone I could work closely with and be genuinely enthusiastic about.  Happily, I have found them!  So before I get to the giveaway, I’d like to introduce you to Great British Yarns.

CraftLife Giveaway

Leather cuff by iMake

I have mentioned the fabulous podcast CraftLife before – it is presented by the lovely Amanda and it is fast becoming one of my favourite shows.  Amanda was keen to offer her listeners a giveaway so I have donated the red leather cuff pictured above.  If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning the cuff, please listen to her episode 11 and follow the instructions on her show notes.  Please note that you cannot enter by leaving a comment on this blog post – make sure you follow Amanda’s instructions (which involves leaving a comment on a specific thread in the CraftLife Ravelry group).  I have the same cuff for sale in my Etsy shop, if you’d like more details and photos (click here).  Good luck!
