This interview is the next installment in my series of interviews with local crafters.
I am delighted to introduce you to Gina aka InkBison. Gina and I were at school together but we have not seen each other for… well… more years than I care to remember! (Feeling old…!) So it was a lovely surprise to get an email from her about her brand new crafty project. It’s been an absolute pleasure interviewing her.
Gina creates original paintings in Indian ink and creates printed cards from them. She also sells original works and will create bespoke pieces. Gina’s printed cards are lovely, but I am most interested in her original pieces. She has a very distinct style. I particularly like her pet portraits as they seem to capture the pet’s personality. I anticipate commissioning portraits of Mia and Shadow very soon! So here’s Gina…
My name is Gina Andrews, aka InkBison. Born and bred in Guernsey, I left Guernsey to study for a BA in Fine Art. I have lived ‘Up North’ and ‘Down South’, done lots of travelling, am a Vegan and painting is my thing.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Creative, thoughtful and generous
A little bit about your crafty background please…
I cannot remember a time when I didn’t draw, it has always been a huge part of my life, but it was at Art College that I first discovered my passion for Indian ink. Much of my work evolved through cartoon mosaics painted in ink. I continue to evolve my art practice through ink and oil painting.
I have been creating greeting cards for friends and family for years. I decided it was time to turn something that I love into something that I can share with the world and on 7 January 2012 InkBison was born. Unique greeting cards created with Indian Ink for sale on my website.
